Let´s go for 3 days, 2 nights jungle trek! Open your eyes, open your ears and delve deeper into the mysteries of the Sumatran jungle, which hides many interesting inhabitants such as orangutans, white gibbons, dusky monkeys, forest turtles, rare birds and much more. At the end of your once-in-a-lifetime experience, you will have an adventurous ride down the river on a traditional raft.

For whom this 3 days, 2 nights jungle trek is suitable

For those who love nature and are physically and mentally fit enough to handle more days of walking and sleeping in the jungle.

If you don’t feel like such a long trek but want to enjoy the jungle enough, try our overnight trek.

If you are travelling with small children or are unable to walk for longer, we recommend day or half-day trek.

If, on the other hand, you want to explore the jungle in depth and have a real adventure, we have a four-day or even five-day jungle trek for you.

Note: If you are alone and do not want to pay for the other person, we can assign you to another group at your request.

3 days, 2 nights jungle trek description

FIRST DAY
  • Pick-up at your guesthouse at 9:00 AM.
  • Approximately 40 minutes walk to Gunung Leuser National Park.
  • Observation of orangutans and other animals, explanation of local trees and plants.
  • Short stop for fruit refreshments.
  • Continue to walk deeper into the jungle.
  • Around 1 PM stop for a local lunch in the jungle.
  • Another 2-3 hours of jungle walking, observation of orangutans and other wild animals.
  • Around 15:30 we arrive at the campsite. Here you can swim, relax, have tea or coffee and a small snack. In the meantime, the guides will prepare the campsite and local dinner such as curry, rice and so on.
  • After dinner you can continue to relax, play games or chat with your guide. Afterwards, you will sleep to the beautiful sounds of the jungle.
SECOND DAY
  • Local breakfast.
  • 4 – 5 hours jungle trek with stops for fruit snacks and animal sightings such as orangutans, forest turtles, white gibbons and more.
  • Around 1 – 2 PM stop for local lunch.
  • Another approximately 2 hours walk to the campsite (different from the previous day).
  • Evening program same as the previous day.
THIRD DAY
  • Local breakfast.
  • After breakfast, you can choose from two program options: another 3-4 hours of walking through the jungle or walk to the waterfall and relax there.
  • Around 1 PM local lunch.
  • After lunch, around 2 – 3 PM get on rafts to float back down the Bohorok river to Bukit Lawang.

PAYMENT TERMS
  • Deposit: 30 % from the total price by transfer to PayPal.
  • Balance: transfer to PayPal or cash (IDR, USD, EUR) before start of the trek.
CANCELLATION CONDITIONS
  • Cancellation 10 days or more before the trek: full refund of the deposit.
  • Cancellation 3 – 10 days before the trek: half of the deposit refunded.
  • Cancellation 2 – 0 days before the trek: deposit forfeited.
  • Cancellation by trek operator: full refund of the deposit.

Note: If there are serious reasons for cancellation, such as an accident, you will receive a full refund upon presentation of the relevant receipts, regardless of when you cancel.

Rules for visitors entering Gunung Leuser National Park

During our treks we follow the principles of sustainable tourism as well as the conditions of the Indonesian Tourism Association. So we kindly ask you to take note of these conditions for entering the National Park and follow them:

  • Don’t feed the animals.
  • Don’t touch the animals.
  • Keep your distance from the animals.
  • Be quiet, don’t shout.
  • Don’t leave garbage in the jungle.
  • Follow the guide’s instructions.
  • Don’t leave the group, don’t going into the jungle alone.

Other treks

Half day jungle trek is easy trip into the jungle, during which you will get to know the beauty of the Sumatran jungle and its inhabitants. If you are lucky, you will meet orangutans and other monkeys and learn basic facts about the local trees, plants and flowers.

During the 1 day jungle trek you will go deeper into the Sumatran jungle where you will have the opportunity to meet its inhabitants such as orangutans, Thomas Leaf monkeys, gibbons, hornbills and many others. You will also learn a lot about local plants and have time to relax and have an Indonesian lunch in the jungle.

Want to know what secrets the jungle hides at night? Join us on a 2 days, 1 night jungle trek where you sleep in the jungle and see animals that hide during the day. The whole adventure is then finished with a ride down the river on traditional rafts back to Bukit Lawang.

Do you want to have a real adventure? Come with us to 4 days, 3 nights jungle trek which leads you to the depths of the Sumatran jungle, far from civilization and off the beaten track. This will give you the opportunity to explore the rich jungle in its pristine form and see a variety of wildlife. You will also learn a lot about plants, including medical ones.

Do you want to experience Sumatra in its pristine form, see rare animals and plants and learn the basics of jungle survival? Join us for 5 days, 4 nights jungle trek, away from civilization and the usual hiking trails, where, if you are lucky, you may see not only monkeys, but also tracks of wild elephants and tigers.

Other activities

Join us at the elephant sanctuary in Tangkahan, which is home for elephants rescued from forests where illegal logging is taking place. As well as visiting the elephant sanctuary, you will also take a dip in the hot springs, enjoy many beautiful views and taste delicious local lunch.

Come with us to discover the surroundings of Bukit Lawang during a village cycling tour where you will learn many interesting facts about local life, crafts, products, traditions and culture. You will see, for example, the home production of tofu or brown sugar or rice fields, and on Friday you can stop at the local market where you can buy fruit, spices and more.

Bat Cave, located about a 40-minute walk from Bukit Lawang, hides not only many stalagmites and stalactites, but also many species of insects, snakes, bats and swallows. If you’re lucky, you may see various species of monkeys and other animals along the way, including orangutans.
